Labor of Love
When labor begins you can go directly to the Women and Infants Pavilion for registration and admission. For your convenience you can print out the pre-admission form in advance and bring the completed form into the Women and Infants Pavilion Admitting Department, to pre-register for your admission. If you have any questions, our Admitting Office will be happy to assist you.
When you feel the first labor pains, stay calm and relaxed. Contact your husband or coach and have someone drive you to the hospital and go to the Women and Infants Pavilion Main Entrance.
If you feel you are going to deliver right away, call 911. If you are on your way to the hospital, please go directly to the Emergency Room. Our specially-trained staff members can help you immediately upon your arrival. You will find a map of the hospital campus in the enclosed Visitor's Guide.
The next few hours will be an intimate time for you and your husband or support person. We respectfully request that only one or two support persons be with you in the labor room. After assessment, a member of our Labor and Delivery Team will call your physician.
Mothers-to-be may quench their thirst with ice, but should not eat or drink during labor.
